Some of the Generation 8 APLPs, namely Shawn Hall, John Taylor, Meredith Holmgren, Mihoko Shimoji, Tashi Wangchuck , Yoriko Ii, Sunita Chaudhary, Vannarith Chheang, and Kamal Raj Sigdel did a five-mile hiking on November 2, 2008, just two days before departing for China.
